Our Evangelism Team has really been doing some amazing work in the last 2 months. You may recall my previous posts about this. From an outsider, it probably seems like we aren’t doing much, but the work will pay off in the long run. We have stepped back to evaluate and create an action plan that will be a complete evangelism plan for the entire church. We will be focusing on the following areas:
- Incorporating new members
- Equipping the church for evangelism
- Sending the church out for evangelism
We have spent hours brainstorming literally everything that the church currently does in those four areas. We have pages worth of events, programs, and procedures. We have spent even more time taking each little thing and evaluating it according the following 3 questions:
- What works well?
- What doesn’t work well? What doesn’t intentionally serve the purpose?
- What is missing?
We have learned alot about collaboration and God’s leading through this process. Each member comes into these kinds of meetings with alot of baggage. We have our ideas, our thoughts, and our experiences that create “agenda” like situations. We have found that we have to talk through these things for a while before we really get to a communal place in which God speaks to us. Its like circumsizing the flesh. We have to cut away the baggage in order to find God’s leading. It is an amazing experience.
