When God calls you into discipleship, the whole world changes. The horizon opens up. The world can be redeemed. “…With God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:25-27.
For a new disciple, and even a veteran because to whom does God not have to teach the same lessons over and over again, every injustice, every need, and every lost person becomes his or her mission. Every thing becomes their mission. God doesn’t call every one to everything, however.
“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.” –1 Corinthians 12:12
As you grow in discipleship and hear your call into Christian service, remember that we are a body designed to complement each other in giftedness and effectiveness. God calls you into a particular part of that body. You are not the body, but a part of it. Remember that you are not saved because you serve the Lord, but you serve in response to your salvation.
In all honesty, I write like this because these are the harder lessons that I learn in my own journey to holiness. God works mysteriously. Between Todd’s message last Sunday, Randy’s this Sunday, and my experiences through the week, God has revealed the need to listen, truly listen, to God speak. Every moment of every day, my mind is a whirlwind of thoughts, some from God, some obviously not. In the midst of all it is a “still small voice,” the Lord. Listen. Truly listen.
